What can I do to help the Turtle to thrive?

There are many ways in which readers can Befriend the Turtle and help her -- possibly him -- to flourish.

If you have something you'd like to have considered for publication in the Turtle, please email it to the Editors. There is nothing more satisfying to an Editor of the Turtle than receiving well-written original and entirely unsolicited TurtleProse. We're always on the lookout for new Articles, Reviews of books, films and plays, Dictionary Entries, Poems and Salutes, and we are always interested in having new contributors, who bring fresh voices to the Chorus of the Turtle.

But even if you don't have the time or the inclination to send us your Words for the Turtle, there are many other ways in which our Readers, Friends and Supporters can be useful and productive members of our virtual community, and we urge you to ponder these carefully:

  • Bookmark the site! An excellent way to remind yourself to return to the Turtle again and again...

  • Subscribe to the Turtle! Click here to add your name to the Turtle's mailing list for our Bulletins, to be informed and inspired in equal measure each month. Your name and email address will be treated confidentially and not passed on to anyone else.

  • Tell your friends! Most people who join our subscription list seem to have found their Way to the Turtle by enthusiastic word of mouth. Since we don't use paid advertising of any kind, it is enormously helpful when people who find themselves enjoying the Turtle start spreading the news.
  • Propagate our Opinions! You should feel free to email the text of any article to a friend whom you think will benefit from its careful study. Feel free to post any article to a relevant newsgroup or chatlist -- though please make sure the source -- voiceoftheturtle.org -- is clearly indicated in your posting. We're usually only too happy for people to find not-for-profit uses for the Material of the Turtle.

  • Tell us! Give us feedback on what you liked, and what you didn't. We don't get nearly enough of this. Alternatively...

  • Send us your news! The Noticeboard of the Turtle [coming soon!] will be an ideal place for the Community of the Turtle to inform each other and the world of their latest births, marriages and deaths, migrations, publications, and strike activity.

  • Translate our articles! While the principal Language of the Turtle remains English, we'd be delighted to publish translations of our pages for the benefit of a polyglot international readership, and a few dual language pages do exist scattered around the site.

  • Donate! The Turtle is nothing if not cheap, and remains entirely not-for-profit. But the editors have a few regular expenses to pay -- including $10 per month to the fine people at Schogini.com who host the site -- and we'd like to be able to contribute towards our Contributors' expenses, too. A Turtle Bank Account is on its way. Get in touch if you'd like to be one of the Bankrollers of the Turtle. Enormous psychic satisfaction guaranteed.
